Lifthium Energy joins International Lithium Association
Lifthium Energy is the more recent member joining the International Lithium Association (ILiA), the only business association representing the entire lithium value chain on a global scale, following the approval of its application by the association’s executive committee.
Recognizing the importance of lithium for the energy transition, generally, and for electric mobility, in particular, ILiA was founded in 2021 having its headquarters in London, UK.
With over 65 members, companies, and entities from different geographies operating in the international lithium value chain, ILiA’s actions are based on three strategic pillars: being the global voice of lithium industry; promoting sustainability according to international ESG best practices; and becoming the world authority in lithium industry.
Lifthium Energy, owned by José de Mello and Bondalti, is developing a project to become a leading green lithium refiner aiming to contribute to the electrification of mobility. After joining the largest European consortium in the lithium value chain, the IPCEI – European Battery Innovation, the membership of Lifthium Energy in ILiA demonstrates the potential for the internationalization of its project. By 2030, Lifthium Energy wants to build two lithium refineries, being the project valued at a billion euros, aiming to supply lithium hydroxide to over two million vehicles annually.
According to Duarte Braga, CEO of Lifthium Energy, “the approval of our application to join ILiA demonstrates our commitment to become a global reference in green lithium”.
